It is a common misconception that a mortgage broker needs a realtor / real estate agent more than the reverse. The relationship is symbiotic. Relationships of this nature can see both parties reaping significant benefits.
There are a number of benefits that realtors / real estate agents can gain by partnering with a mortgage broker. One significant benefit is simply the opportunity to value-add. For example, if I am a buyer dealing with a specific realtor / real estate agent or real estate company and they are able to connect me with a really great licensed mortgage broker or brokerage service, I am going to think more positively about that relationship and I will keep coming back to that realtor / real estate agent for all of my future real estate needs. In addition, the more buyers that a realtor / real estate agent can get good quality loans for in an efficient timeframe, the more sales that person is going to make.

However, their bank could not see them until the following week. So, their problem was that they were going to miss the auction.
